The anthology „Art Researches“ of the Dimitri-Janelidze Scientific Research Institute at the Georgian State Shota Rustaveli University of Theatre and Film is published annually. The anthology presents the latest research work of the staff of the D. Janelidze Institute.
The fourth volume of the „Art Researches“ presents a broad spectrum of research – just as in the previous three volumes. It contains interesting and important scientific contributions in the fields of art studies, theatre studies, film studies, choreology, art didactics, literary studies, cultural studies. We offer the reader a new section – „From the Archives of Foreign Countries“ on the example of the publication „Documents of Georgian Artists and Scientists from the Collections of the Central State Archives-Museum of Literature and Art of Ukraine as a Historical Source“, which was written especially for the anthology of our research institute „Art Researches“.
The second new section - „New Translations“ - presents the first Georgian translation of one of the earliest writings on the art of dance - it is the work of Lucian of Samosata “The Dance (Of Pantomime)”, which is considered the oldest work in choreology. Just as in the first three volumes of the „Art Researches“ from 2019, 2020, 2021, Volume IV of the „Art Researches“ of the Dimitri – Yanelidze Scientific Research Institute presents the materials (photos, posters, sketches) kept in the holdings of the Theatre and Film Museum, which is integrated into the structure of the Dimitri-Yanelidze Scientific Research Institute at the Georgian State Shota Rustaveli University of Theatre and Film. Most of these materials are being published for the first time.

The anthology „Art Researches“ of the Dimitri Janelidze Scientific Research Institute at the Georgian State Shota Rustaveli University of Theatre and Film is published annually. The present anthology is characterized by innovations - it contains a variety of interesting scientific contributions in the fields of Art studies („From the history of memory - a collection of sketches“), Theatre studies („The second „Golden Age“ of Georgian theatre / Beginning of the 1970s“), Film studies („Does anyone here know me? No, that‘s not Lear! Who is it that can tell me who I am?“- Narration in Film. Principles of Postmodernism“; „The Structuralist Research of Cinematographic Art and the Philosophical Aspect of Metaphor“), Choreology („The Dance Dialect of the Eastern Mountainous Regions of Georgia -Tushian, Chevsurian, Pshavian, Chevian, Mtiulian“), Art Didactics („Some Questions of the Philosophical Assessment of Art“), Literary Studies („The Symbolological Aspect of Romanticism“). All contributions contain detailed summaries in English and German. For the first time, an excerpt from Franco Zeffirelli‘s autobiography (Chapter 5 -Luchino) is published in Georgian. In the traditional section „From the Museum Collection“ we offer the reader the materials dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the famous Georgian theatre director Mikheil Tumanishvili. Together with the article „The Titan“, dedicated to the pedagogical and creative activity of the great master, there will also be presented for the wide audience formerly unknown photographic and graphic materials preserved in the holdings of the Theatre and Film Museum, which is integrated into the structure of the Dimitri Janelidze Scientific Research Institute at the Georgian State Shota Rustaveli University of Theatre and Film. The reader will also have the opportunity to get acquainted with the specimens of decorative theatre art, which are posters, attributes and sketches of theatre performances of the 40s - 60s of the 20th century. A collection of sketches is presented, which is kept in the Theatre and Film Museum. Just like the first (2019) and the second volume (2020), the third volume of the „Art Studies“ of the Dimitri Janelidze Scientific Research Institute presents the research contributions to Georgian cultural history, modern art processes, as well as to the problems of art teaching/didactics. The volume also contains contributions intended as textbooks, i.e. auxiliary materials for art studies.

The anthology “Art Researches” of the Dimitri Janelidze Scientifi c Research Institute at the Georgian State Shota Rustaveli University of Theater and Film was first published in 2019.
In the second volume of “Art Researches”, the research spectrum is presented in a broader sense – it includes contributions in the fi elds of theater studies (The Puppet in Ritual, Magic and Art; The Scenography of the Performance in the Context of the Concept of Direction.), art studies (From the History of Theater Architecture of the 19th Century), fi lm studies (Research on the fi lm of postmodernism and on metaphorical fi lm), literary studies (The cultural phenomenon of Romanticism), musicology (V. Sardous and G. Puccini’s “Tosca” (comparative analysis), as well
as choreology (The Dance Dialect of Racha) and art education (On the question of teaching art).
In the traditional section “From the Museum Collection” we off er the reader the materials dedicated to the 85th anniversary of the famous Georgian fi lm director Merab Kokochashvili. These materials are kept in the collection of the Theatre and Film Museum, which is integrated into the structure of the Dimitri Janelidze Scientifi c Research Institute at the Georgian State Shota Rustaveli University of Theatre and Film.Just like the fi rst volume of “Art Researches”, the second volume presents the research contributions to Georgian cultural history, modern art processes, and problems of art education. The volume also contains contributions that are intended as teaching aids for art studies.

Vol. 1 (2019)
“Art Researches” is the first volume of the newly founded Dimitri Janelidze Scientific Research Institute at the Georgian State Shota Rustaveli University of Theatre and Film. From now on the band will be released every year. In this publication the results of the scientific research work of the institute are presented. The investigations cover various areas - Georgian art history, world art history, important topics and problems of contemporary art. The aim of the issue is also to serve as auxiliary material for studying at the University of Theatre and Film.
In the volume “Art Researches” exhibits from the collection of the Museum of Theatre and Film are published for the first time. This museum is included in the structure of the newly founded Dimitri Janelidze Scientific Research Institute at the Georgian State Shota Rustaveli University of Theatre and Film. These exhibits are a photo-chronicle of the exploration of folklore performances. The expedition was conducted by the Patriarch of Georgian Drama, the well-known theater researcher Professor Dimitri Janelidze in the 70-s of the 20th century. These photo documents, which are over half a century old, have a historical value for the theatrical scholars.
In the section „From the museum‘s collection“, the reader is gradually acquainted with the store kept in the Museum of the Georgian State Shota Rustaveli University of Theatre and Film. This store was previously unknown to the public and professionals.

The 5th volume of "Art Researches" is dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Georgian Shota Rustaveli State University of Theatre and Film.
As in the previous volumes (2019-2022), the 5th volume of "Art Researches" offers readers a wide range of interesting scientific publications in the fields of theatre studies (Theatrology), art studies, film studies, choreology, art didactics, including theatre education and literary studies. The publications are accompanied by detailed summaries in English and German, which should contribute to the international scientific integration of mentioned research works.
Traditionally, this volume also devotes special space to materials from the Museum of Theatre and Film, which is integrated into the structure of the Georgian State Shota Rustaveli University of Theatre and Film and are previously unknown to the general audience and professionals.
The aim of the anthology "Art Researches" is to acquaint colleagues and the general public with the annual work and research results of the D. Janelidze Scientific Research Institute.
